Pathway to Certification

Become an effective, certified Texas teacher in 15-18 months

  1. Apply for free
  2. Complete Pre-Service Coursework and Training
  3. Teach in a ResponsiveEd TCPA classroom
  4. Earn Standard Texas Teaching Certificate

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75* (overall or in the final 60 semester hours)
  • Official transcript(s)
  • Demonstrate English language proficiency

* For applicants that meet the minimum GPA of at least 2.5 per 19 TAC § 227.10(a)(3) but do not meet the program’s minimum required GPA (overall or last 60 credit hours) of at least 2.75 and/or minimum required college credit hours for the certification they are seeking, the program will allow the applicants to demonstrate proficiency in the content by earning a passing score on the applicable pre-admission content test (PACT).

Support with Additional Admission Requirements

Some applicants may be required to complete additional steps for admissions.

Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT): Applicants who do have a grade point average (GPA) between 2.50 – 2.75 and/or do not meet the required minimum college credit hours for their certification area will be required to complete the PACT exam(s). See the PACT page for additional information.

Foreign Transcript Evaluations: Applicants who hold a Bachelor’s degree from outside of the United States will be required to have a review of their out-of-country credentials conducted by a state-approved service provider. See the Foreign Transcript Evaluations page for additional details.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Applicants who completed their Bachelor’s degrees outside of the United States of America may be required to demonstrate their English language proficiency for admission to the program.
